Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
I pray to find you with great emaan and health InshAllah.
Fairtrade is a way of introducing wider issues about fairness in the world such as global justice, ethical trade, and sustainable development. Fairtrade is all about supporting small-scale farmers and workers in poorer countries. This means making sure that they have decent working conditions on the farms as well as receiving a fair and secure income for what they produce.
Many people think that trade is unfair because it works in favor of the rich and powerful countries and increases the gap between rich and poor people. Fairtrade is a useful starting point for exploring global justice and development, as well as a way of promoting trade that gives a better deal to the producers.
Fairtrade Fortnight runs from 24th February to the 6th March 2020. We will celebrate this with a Fairtrade Café for all children on Friday the 6th of March 2020. To support this, we hope that your children will bring money to buy Fairtrade friendly snacks, for example, pancakes, homemade pizza, and cake made from Fairtrade products such as bananas, strawberries, chocolate, or juice. We have included a price list of the food for sale. Please ensure children have some change/money to buy something from our fair trade stalls during school hours only.
As well as supporting us in this by sending in some money to buy from the Fair Trade café, you can also help by ensuring that when you go shopping you look out for the Fairtrade logo on items at the supermarket, so don’t be afraid to get your children involved in the Fairtrade logo hunt.
Jazakallah Khair for your continued support
